Overview
Kishtwar Transmission Ltd (KwTL) is a critical transmission project in J&K that’s committed towards meeting the energy requirements of the region. The ISTS project envisaged by Ministry of Power, is envisioned with the objective of improving reliability of power supply and stability in the region. The transmission system will be used for augmenting power capacity in Kishtwar region and evacuation of 1000 MW of power from Pakaldul Hydro Electric Project. Once operational, KwTL will further strengthen the power infrastructure and usher economic development in the J&K region and make it future ready in terms of energy requirement. One of the biggest benefits of this project to people of Kishtwar is that they would be able to utilize the green power produced by the HEP in Kishtwar district. This has been made possible with the 400 kV Kishenpur-Dulhasti LILO (Line in Line out) transmission line and coming up of 400/132kV GIS substation at Kishtwar. The power produced will first get pooled at the substation, stepped down to 132 kV for use in Kishtwar and also evacuated to rest parts of the region at 400 kV. Earlier the power used to get pooled at a faraway substation at Kishenpur.
